So the 2010 Winter Olympics have been going on as of late, as all of you probably already know. I won’t talk about all of the athletes and medalists and things like that in this blog. I’d rather like to focus my attention on the devotion of said athletes.
First off, most of them are professionals in their area. They are used to being paid for doing their dream jobs. As Olympians, they are playing simply for national fame and glory. They are taking a leave of absence from their daily work to represent their respective countries in their sport. And for this I applaud them. They don’t have to do what they are doing, but they are risking their body and reputation for the honor of their fellow countrymen.
Some of these athletes have devoted their whole lives to the sport they are playing in hopes of being in the position they are currently in, playing on the biggest stage on Earth, the Olympics. It’s simply incredible how much time and effort these people are putting into their respective fields to be the best, knowing they are going up against the toughest competition in the world.
On a side note, though I said I wouldn’t talk about medals, USA is in the lead in medal count! =)))
